POLICY & GUIDELINES
Thank you for choosing me as your piano teacher! To ensure that every student receives the most effective and creative teaching I can offer, I have established the following policies, which are subject to updates regularly.
My Responsibilities
I will create a positive environment in my studio and encourage students to work diligently, explore creativity, make mistakes, and have fun in the pursuit of excellence. I will meet students where they are and strive to balance celebrating accomplishments with pushing for continued growth. I will set clear expectations and communicate effectively with students and parents. I will focus on the joy of music, the impact of sharing music with others, and the growth of the whole person through music study!
Parent and Family Responsibilities
Parents will try their best to ensure and encourage daily piano practice and help students develop this habit, especially on the days they don’t feel like it! Family members contribute to students’ progress by taking an interest in the music they are working on, encouraging them to persevere when it’s challenging, and praising their success.
Families are responsible for providing an acoustic piano/digital keyboard/age-fitting sized violin with music stand in an area of the home with minimal distractions and good lighting and making sure the acoustic piano is tuned at least once per year. Students who divide their time between two homes must have access to a piano 4-5 days out of every week lessons are in session; for some, this may require a piano in both locations. Parents will also bring students to lessons on time and make tuition payments on time.
Student Responsibilities
Students will arrive at every lesson well-prepared and on time, and with all music, assignments and their planner binder. 4-5 days of practice (15-60 minutes per day, depending on level) are REQUIRED weekly and are necessary for progress in music study. Playing the piano is fun, but it also requires focused hard work! Students are responsible for completing the goals outlined in their planner binder each week and keeping a log of daily practice if asked.
Tuition – Invoices for the upcoming month’s tuition are issued during the last week of each month. Payment is due by the 1st of the month to secure your student’s schedule and placement. Payments not received by the 10th of the month will incur a $10 late fee.
Cancellations / Missed Lessons – Please provide at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to change or cancel a lesson. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice will forfeit the lesson fee. Exceptions may be made at teacher’s discretion for unexpected circumstances.
Books and Study Aid – Required music books and resources can be purchased through our studio, online, or at your local music shop. Teacher will provide specific recommendations during lessons. Custom materials prepared by the studio are included in your annual studio fee (see below) at no additional cost.
Teacher Cancellation Should the teacher cancel a lesson, a make-up lesson will be scheduled at a mutually agreeable time.
Vacations If you wish to move or cancel your lesson due to holiday plans, please advise the studio as soon as possible.
Punctuality – Lessons will always end at their scheduled time, even if you arrive late. Unfortunately, missed time cannot be made up. However, if a previous lesson runs over and causes a delay, you will always receive your full, allotted time.
Sick Leave – If you have a fever or are feeling unwell, please stay home and rest. We want you to stay comfortable and recover quickly! Plus, keeping the studio healthy and germ-free helps protect everyone in our community.
Notification – For scheduling changes or cancellations, please contact me during studio hours (9:00 AM – 6:00 PM) via call, text, or WhatsApp. Please note that responses via email, Facebook, or Instagram may be delayed.
FEES for 2026/2027
Annual studio fee (2026/2027)
A non-refundable annual school fee of $50 per student is required for all in-person and hybrid lessons. Paid prior to the start of each academic year in September, this fee directly supports the resources needed to maintain our high-quality educational environment. It covers personalized instructional materials, licensed sheet music, digital learning subscriptions, music theory and examination resources, audio equipment maintenance, administrative systems, and facility upkeep.

Diploma Levels
(ARCT & LRCM of RCM | ARSM & LRSM of ABRSM | ATCL & LTCL of Trinity College)
$180 per session (between 75mins to 90mins)
Attendance at the advanced class requires prior preparation and diligent practice of the weekly assigned extract/repertoire.
